SUMMARY

In 30 seconds

Matthew Berman highlights Ramp's May 2026 AI Index, in which Anthropic leads OpenAI among businesses measured by Ramp. The index uses Ramp corporate-card and invoice spending, so its percentages should not be generalized to every business. Berman also comments on revenue and predicts further growth; the clip does not substantiate a like-for-like revenue comparison.

  1. 1Adoption changesBerman says Anthropic has overtaken OpenAI in business adoption, citing Ramp's index.
  2. 2The figuresRamp reports 34.4% for Anthropic and 32.3% for OpenAI among businesses in its data.
  3. 3Overall AI adoptionRamp's overall figure is 50.6% within its spending-based sample; it is not a census of all businesses.
  4. 4Revenue and growthBerman claims Anthropic revenue has surpassed OpenAI's and cites 80-fold growth; the clip does not provide comparable financial disclosures or a growth period.

Takeaways

  1. Ramp reported Anthropic adoption at 34.4% and OpenAI at 32.3% in its April 2026 data.
  2. The index measures businesses through Ramp card and invoice spending, not a census of all businesses.
  3. Ramp reported overall AI adoption of 50.6% within its measured population.
  4. Berman's revenue comparison and prediction of future dominance are not established by the adoption chart.

Ramp adoption and revenue claims

Berman discusses Anthropic's rise in a spending-based index and comments on revenue and future growth. The data and his predictions have different evidentiary scopes.

Anthropic has grown quickly, and I highlight a new Ramp AI Index report showing it ahead of OpenAI in business adoption. The May 2026 report gives 34.4% for Anthropic and 32.3% for OpenAI. Ramp bases this index on its own corporate-card and invoice payments, so the figures describe businesses in its data rather than all businesses ([Ramp](https://ramp.com/data/ai-index-may-2026)).

Ramp's business adoption chart
SLIDE 1 / 1Ramp's business adoption chartThe chart compares providers using Ramp business spending data and shows overall AI adoption in that measured population.

The chart shows Anthropic's measured adoption rising sharply over the preceding year while OpenAI's is comparatively flat. Overall adoption is 50.6% in the index. I find that level surprisingly low, but it should not be treated as the percentage of every business using AI.

I claim that Anthropic's revenue has far surpassed OpenAI's and say CEO Dario Amodei cited 80-fold growth. The short does not give a growth period or comparable financial disclosures supporting the revenue comparison; adoption figures alone do not establish revenue. I predict Anthropic could become the world's biggest company, which is my speculation.
