Food in the London office

Sean introduces his hospitality role and describes the office kitchen. Freshly made food allows for variety and British traditions.

My name is Sean, and I work on the hospitality team in Jane Street's London office, focused primarily on food service. I've been here since 2017.

We're lucky to have a purpose-built kitchen where all our food is freshly made. That gives us an incredible opportunity to offer a diverse range of food. We also have some special British traditions, such as afternoon tea and elevenses—all the good stuff.

02

Hospitality as teamwork

The work calls for interpersonal skills and looking after colleagues. The hospitality team also works with vendors and teams in other offices.

To work in hospitality at Jane Street, people need interpersonal skills and a desire to look after others. We want to make sure everyone has the best day they can in the office.

We can't do all of this by ourselves, so we work with external vendors. I work with our food contractors, while the team also works with housekeeping and travel agents. We collaborate closely within our local hospitality team and with our global teams in Hong Kong, New York, Amsterdam and Singapore to make sure we're aligned.

03

Social life and culture

Sean looks forward to the monthly Bull and Camel event. He values the people and friendships that make working with his team enjoyable.

It's hard to choose a favorite social activity from all the ones we have at Jane Street. The one I look forward to most is the Bull and Camel, our monthly food and drinks event. The whole office gets together after work, and it's a lovely place to meet people.

Our team is particularly proud of the culture here. The people make the office: getting to work with such a diverse and intelligent group is incredible. My favorite thing is my team. We don't just work together; we have fun and go out in the evenings, which is important to me.
