RÉSUMÉ

En 30 secondes

In this May 2025 short, Matthew Berman demonstrates a Tamagotchi-inspired pet called Bo. He shows its status meters, playing, discipline, growth, sleep and cleaning. The short does not identify the coding model or show the implementation process, and it contains no disclosed sponsor.

  1. 1A virtual-pet loopBerman describes a real-time simulation with pet status and predefined actions.
  2. 2Actions change the metersDiscipline reduces happiness, and playing raises it in the demonstration.
  3. 3Growth and careThe pet grows into a child, sleeps and needs cleaning.

À retenir

  1. The demonstration describes time-based progression and meters for a virtual pet’s condition.
  2. Discipline reduces happiness in the shown simulation, while playing increases it.
  3. The pet grows, sleeps when the lights are turned off and can require cleaning.
  4. The short demonstrates a prototype rather than establishing a complete recreation of the original product.

The virtual-pet simulation

Berman introduces the time-based loop and shows the pet’s status. The interface offers care actions.

I wanted to recreate the feel of Tamagotchi: a virtual pet that progresses with time and responds to predefined actions. The simulation tracks hunger, happiness, discipline, health, age and weight. The [original Tamagotchi](https://tamagotchi-official.com/us/series/original/item/01_268/) also uses care actions such as feeding, playing and cleaning; this is my own demonstration, not an official product.

Virtual pet status and care actions
DIAPOSITIVE 1 / 2Virtual pet status and care actionsThe interface displays Bo’s meters and buttons for feeding, play, cleaning and other care.

The pet, named Bo in the interface, starts as an egg and its age ticks upward. I check its meters, then use discipline because that meter is low. In this version, discipline reduces happiness, so I play with the pet to raise it again.

Playing, growth and cleanup

He demonstrates discipline and play, followed by growth, sleep and cleaning. He says the prototype could be iterated further.

The pet grows into a child
DIAPOSITIVE 2 / 2The pet grows into a childThe demonstration shows a later growth stage and updated status meters.

Bo evolves into a child. I turn off the lights and the pet sleeps; later a message says its space needs cleaning, so I clean it. The animated waste looks a little strange, and I could iterate on the design. The short shows the running prototype, but does not identify a coding model or demonstrate the implementation process.
