RÉSUMÉ

En 30 secondes

Matthew Berman introduces Claude Cowork as a desktop interface inspired by Claude Code’s agentic capabilities. He imagines uses beyond programming and cites a rapid development claim, while the product was a research preview rather than an unrestricted system that could reliably do anything.

  1. 1Beyond developersBerman describes Cowork as an accessible desktop interface for agentic tasks associated with Claude Code.
  2. 2Possible tasksHe cites presentations, file organization and freeing storage as examples; results and permissions depend on the task.
  3. 3A rapid buildHe says Cowork was built with Claude Code in about a week and a half; the video does not independently establish the full development history.

À retenir

  1. Cowork brought agentic capabilities to the desktop in a January 2026 research preview.
  2. The proposed uses include presentations and organizing files, beyond software development.
  3. Berman’s round-the-clock and do-anything framing expresses a vision, not a guarantee of capability.

Agentic work on the desktop

Berman introduces Cowork and compares it with Claude Code. He describes possible non-coding uses.

I see a future in which a computer can work on tasks for you around the clock. Anthropic’s Claude Cowork, announced as a research preview in January 2026, brings agentic capabilities to the desktop, with an interface aimed beyond the developers who use Claude Code. The idea of continuous work is a vision, not a guarantee that the preview can run every task indefinitely.

I describe Cowork as making the power of Claude Code accessible through a user-friendly interface. Examples include preparing presentations, organizing files and freeing disk space. Saying it can do anything is an enthusiastic shorthand: what it can actually do depends on available tools, permissions and its ability to complete a given task.

02

From developer tool to broader use

He suggests developers’ use of Claude Code beyond programming inspired the product and cites a short development period. These are his account of the product’s origin.

My understanding is that developers had already discovered uses for Claude Code beyond programming, inspiring Anthropic to offer a similar experience to non-developers. I also say Cowork was built using Claude Code in about a week and a half; the video itself does not independently establish the complete development history. I encourage viewers to try the product and judge it for themselves.
