Visiting Machu Picchu

The group arrives after traveling from Cusco. Lazar describes the view and asks a guide about the site.

Today we are heading to Machu Picchu, and I am excited to see a place I have known through photographs. The group travels from Cusco and approaches the site with a guide.

Although it feels very high, the guide says the site is lower in altitude than Cusco. We head toward a viewpoint, and the landscape is breathtaking. It feels surreal to be here in person.

The group talks about the journey and notes that visitors can also take the multiday Inca Trail, which we did not do on this trip. I ask a guide why Machu Picchu is significant to Peru; he discusses its place in the region’s history and its preservation.

The journey back

A café stop and train ride follow. The vlog captures the scenery and playful moments along the way.

We stop at a café before catching the train back. The view is extraordinary, and we joke about the café’s name. On the train, vendors show items for sale and we laugh about possible souvenirs.

03

Sunset and home

Lazar reflects on the trip during a hike. The video ends after the group returns to Los Angeles.

We wrap up the day with a sunset hike. I feel grateful for the trip and the experiences I will bring home. Later we share a reading about a caring relationship and joke about the small acts of care we appreciate.

After a long return journey, we are back in Los Angeles. I ask viewers which destinations are on their list and what we should try next.
