In this April 2026 short, Matthew Berman reacts to Anthropic’s description of Claude Mythos Preview and its cybersecurity work. He cites the company’s report of thousands of serious vulnerabilities and expresses concern about the consequences, while speculating that software development may become essentially solved. [Anthropic’s assessment](https://www.anthropic.com/research/mythos-preview) describes its own testing and coordinated disclosure efforts; the video’s broad conclusions about all software are the presenter’s interpretation.
- 1A strong reactionBerman says he has been thinking about the implications of Mythos and feels some fear.
- 2Cybersecurity concernsHe cites Anthropic’s assessment of a new model’s cybersecurity capabilities.
- 3Reported vulnerabilitiesBerman cites thousands of serious findings across major systems and browsers; the count is a company-reported result.
- 4A broad extrapolationHe argues that the findings imply no software is protected, a conclusion that goes beyond the demonstrated results.

A reaction to Mythos Preview
Berman describes his concern about the model and cites Anthropic’s cybersecurity warning. He also speculates about its effect on software development.
I felt the need to record this late at night on vacation because I couldn’t stop thinking about Mythos. I even felt a tinge of fear: I think things are different now and won’t be the same again.
I see this as much more capable than the Opus versions I mention. Anthropic describes a frontier model whose observed capabilities could reshape cybersecurity. If a model is this good at coding, I think software development may essentially be solved, although that is my prediction rather than an established result.
Vulnerabilities and implications
He cites the reported findings across operating systems and browsers. He extrapolates from them to broader economic and security consequences.
Anthropic says Mythos Preview has found thousands of high-severity vulnerabilities, including some in every major operating system and web browser. The company describes coordinated disclosure to maintainers and vendors. I worry about consequences for economies, public safety and national security; my conclusion that there is no such thing as protected software is a broad interpretation, not something those findings prove.
